Jesus had spend the night being on trial with the religious leaders and now at daybreak they dragged Him to the government to do the dirty work. Yet, no one could find fault in Jesus. Their sentence was that Jesus was blasphemous in claiming to be “The King of the Jews.” But that was completely true. The religious leaders didn’t want to accept it because Jesus was shaking up their religious system. Yet, even the soldiers and another criminal recognized that Jesus truly was the Son of God. He was sinless. I’m not sure what would have happened if they did embrace Jesus as their King. I know that God knew that they wouldn’t and He took full advantage of the sinful situation to become the sinless sacrifice for the sins of the world.
Prayer Starter: God, I have a tiny understanding that You have knowledge of all things, but it is still incomprehensible to fully understand how You can work all things, including the bad, towards Your good. The trials You endured and the torture on the cross was detestable and unjustified. But I am overwhelmed to think that You did all of that because You loved me. For those present at that time, it was not a good Friday. But because we all have the 20/20 hindsight, we can see why it is indeed called “Good.” Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
