This is a week dedicated to living out our mission: Love Like Jesus. This year’s Serve Sanford week is April 19th-25th. We have several projects planned and invite you to sign up to participate in serving our community. If you don’t see a project that interests you, or you have an idea for a project, click the button at the bottom of this list and make a recommendation.

Northview Optimist Park Clean-up

Dates & Times: Sunday, April 19th Times: 3:30-6:30

Point of Contact: Daniel Hart

Description: Help us come together to clean up and beautify Northview Optimist Park—a place loved by so many families, where children learn, grow, and develop their passion for baseball. Let’s take pride in our community by creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who enjoys this special place!

Military Care Packages

Date & Time: Sunday, April 19th @ 9:00&11:00am

Point of Contact: JR Cook

Description: As we step into Love Week, we have a special opportunity to serve those who serve us every day. This year, our project is to gather care‑package boxes for deployed soldiers—simple shoebox‑sized gifts that remind them they are seen, appreciated, and prayed for.

If your family would like to participate, please fill a shoebox with small, non-perishable items. From past deployment experience, some of the most appreciated items include:

Beef jerky
Trail mix
Hard candy (non‑melting)
Gum
Magazines (new or used): hunting, cars, racing, men’s health, etc.
Snacks and nuts
Crackers

Please do not include:

Chocolate or anything that can melt
Liquids of any kind
Personal information such as your address or phone number

You are welcome to include a handwritten card or note of encouragement—just keep it general. Our team will add the church’s contact information so soldiers can write back if they choose.

Widows Yardwork

Date & Time: Sunday, April 19th

Point of Contact: Grant Carter and TJ Kubiesa

Description: Join us as we serve and give back to the widows of Grace Chapel by helping with yard projects that will be a true blessing. Let’s come together to show love, lend a hand, and be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.

Outreach Missions

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 21st 5:00-7:00pm

Point of Contact: James DeFriese/Justin Carter

Description: We need 6–8 volunteers to help plate and serve food in a welcoming environment. The Sanford Outreach Mission faithfully serves those in need by providing food, clothing, showers, shelter, and support.

CUOC

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 21st @ 9:00am

Point of Contact: Teresa Patterson/ABRMG

Description: Join the ABRMG as they serve at the CUOC of Lee County—a vital ministry offering a food pantry and thrift store for Lee County residents. CUOC also supports children through the Backpack Buddies program, helping provide meals for kids in need over the weekend.

Laundry Challenge

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 21st @ 5:30-7:30pm

Point of Contact: Mark Cauthen

Description: Located at Scrubbin’ Board III in Tramway. This is a time for us to speak with people as we assist them with loading and folding their laundry at the laundromat. We will have resources available to provide detergent and pay for machine use.

Gas Station Challenge

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 21st @ 6pm

Point of Contact: Mark Cauthen

Description: Located at the Tramway Circle K. This is an opportunity to meet people, invite them to church, pray for them, and give them a gas gift card.

Grace Choir- Widow Visits

Date & Time: Wednesday, April 22

Point of Contact: Pastor Jed

Description: The choir will go out to visit the widows in our community and share the gift of worship through song. This is a beautiful opportunity to bring encouragement, joy, and the presence of God into their homes.

Pinehurst Nursing Home Ministry

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 21st & Thursday April 23rd @ 6:00pm

Point of Contact: Dwight & Dawn Mejan

Description: Visit a nursing home in Pinehurst and bring them homemade treats! This team will serve on Tuesday and Thursday nights with the Mejans. Information to contact the Mejans will be sent after registration. Those serving must coordinate through the Mejans. Please DO NOT show up at the venue before coordinating with project leaders.

Nursing Home Bingo Ministry

Date & Time: Thursday April 23rd @ 2:00-3:00pm

Point of Contact: Clay Vessels

Description: Join the Clay Vessels for a meaningful morning of ministry at Westfield Nursing Home! Dr. Baker will share an encouraging message as we spend time in fellowship, bring joy, and connect with the residents. We’ll also enjoy playing bingo together and sharing smiles, laughter, and the love of Christ.

Homeruns and Hotdogs

Date & Time: Tuesday, April 21st @ 5:30 – 8:30

Point of Contact: Mitch Norman

Description: Join us at Northview Optimist Park as we share the love of Jesus with our community! We’ll be passing out hot dogs at the ballpark, serving families, and creating a welcoming, joyful environment for everyone who stops by.

Reach Out Crisis Pregnancy Center

Date & Time: Thursday, April 23rd @ 4:00pm

Point of Contact: Isaac Snyder

Description: Join us for building improvements as we work together to care for and enhance their space! Tasks will include spackling and repairing nail holes, completing paint touch-ups in the education room, installing chair rail in the small dining nook, and adding potted plants to enhance the gravel area at the front of the building.

Outreach Missions

Date & Time: Friday April 24th @2:00-5:00pm

Point of Contact: James DeFriese

Description: This project involves Storage Consolidation, and we’re looking for 4–6 guys to help organize and move items—truck needed.

Downtown Prayer Walk

Date & Time: Saturday, April 25th @ 10am

Point of Contact:

Description: Meet at Depot Park at 10am. We will walk through downtown, invite people to church, pray over the businesses, and be available to pray with people me meet.

Widows Yardwork

Date & Time: Saturday, April 25th @ 9:00am

Jeremiah House

Description: Join us at the Jeremiah House as we come together to serve through yard beautification projects! This is an opportunity to create a clean, welcoming, and safe space where single mothers can grow, be equipped, and find hope in a time of need.

Do you have an idea for a local service project that you are willing to lead and coordinate? Click the link below to submit a description of your project, date, resource needs. We will contact you to let you know if we’re able to include the project in Serve Sanford this year and will help you get people signed up to participate. Project ideas must be submitted by April 12th for consideration.
